As a former smoker for many years, I know how difficult it is to finally kick the habit for good! So please don't use the excuse of "I Can't Quit". What worked for me which is something that may not necessarily work for everyone was to do it "cold turkey". To continue to smoke at all only seemed to spiral me back into the same pattern of smoking the same number of cigarettes that I swore to stop smoking to begin with. Recent studies show that most ex-smokers have also chosen this method of quitting as well. How do you know that you are ready to quit? Well, first you have to always listen to that inner voice. Yesterday as I left work, walking to my parking lot I noticed a little boy who appears to be about 5 years old. He walked out of the Victoria Secret store and was wandering aimlessly down the street. I observed his behavior and my instinct kicked in that something was just not right. I walked to catch up to him and asked him "where is your mommy?" He turned and looked at me puzzled and attempted to keep walking. I stopped him again and asked the same question. "Where is your mommy?" I was hoping she was in the Victoria Secret store I'd seen him just walk out of and that at any moment she'd come out and snatch his hand, like we mothers do when we feel our child has gone too far away from us. Instead he responded, "in a hotel." I responded, repeating what he said "a hotel?" He says "Yes, a Hospital hotel."
