Make your own toothpaste!

Why should we be held captive to the toothpaste market, which is a $1.6 billion dollar business? Promises that you are getting a "Natural" product are soon broken as soon as you've finished reading the label. You may find toxic ingredients, such as paraben preservatives, sodium lauryl sulfate, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners. some of which
known carcinogens.

Who would knowingly put these ingredients in their mouth, knowing that the membrane in the mouth’s lining is one of the most absorbent tissues in the body? Empower yourself by making your own toothpaste that can also heal and prevent cavities, gum disease and whiten your teeth with this recipe from Holisiticlivingtips.com:

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons of baking soda

3 tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil

1 tablespoon of xylitol

1 tablespoon of neem powder

15 drops of mint essential oil

Mix Well!

It’s recommended that you use a glass jar when making your natural  toothpaste. Also, using extra virgin coconut oil is very important, because of it's antimicrobial effects. The neem powder provides the benefits helping prevent gum disease and bad breath and helps reduce plaque and cavities due to its “antibacterial, antiseptic, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties.”

Xylitol can safely sweeten the taste of your toothpaste and it provides additional oral health benefits. Plaque can literally be starved to death by xylitol and Saliva is increased by using xylitol. Additionally, xylitol also helps prevent gum disease.

Baking soda is helpful especially if you have stains on your teeth, as it can help remove discoloration, according to. It’s alkaline properties “release free radicals that attack teeth stains,” and “has a bleach-like action.”  Essential oils are for more than aroma. Peppermint essential oil can help reduce bacteria, which, can cause gum disease.

Use this toothpaste three times a day for the best results.
