TO BE HEALTHY, EAT YOUR SWEETS!

SWEET POTATO IS NUMBER ONE WHEN IT COMES TO NUTRITION IN COMPARISON TO ALL VEGETABLES!

Now I see why Thanksgiving in our home was not complete without a good ole' sweet potato pie!  Just like Grandma used to make it!

Sweet potatoes are extremely nutritious!
Out of ALL vegetables, the sweet potato is the highest in nutrition ranking with a score of 184.

Even Whole Foods backs it as one of the healthiest vegetables you can eat.

Here is how the sweet potato ranks in comparison to a few of the most common vegetables.  The higher the score the more nutritious the vegetable:

Sweet potato       184
Spinach                 76
Kale                      55
Broccoli                 52
Carrots                  30
Okra                      30
Artichoke               24

Sweet potatoes are loaded with more than your daily requirements of Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C,
with 15 % of daily dietary Fiber, Potassium,  and Manganese.

For those who smoke, Sweet potatoes could protect you from emphysema. Vitamin A which is the vitamin that is lacking in those who smoke, is the known to be one of the main causes of the disease.  Ideally you should quit, but the intake of sweet potatoes could help in prevention by replenishing the body of the Vitamin A deficiency.

Diabetics have no fear, the sweet potato is here!  The low glycemic index of the sweet potato allows for diabetics to eat this vegetable without having to worry about the effects on a person's blood glucose level. High glycemic foods, on the other hand result in a spike and then a dive in an individuals blood sugar level.  The sweet potato gradually increases the blood sugar level and gradually returns it to normal. It's counterpart the white potato had the opposite effect.

Full of Antioxidants, this vegetable helps fight cancers such as prostrate, kidney, by fighting cancer causing free radicals. In addition, when eaten with the skin, the sweet potato has more fiber that oatmeal.

If you suffer from asthma or arthritis, the sweet potato is an excellent anti-inflammatory, due to it's vitamin and A and C properties.

Just as God created plants for food, he also created plants for healing, so eat those sweet potatoes! A medium one is only between 130 and 160 calories, so they're also low in fat.  And if you take advice from Dr. Oz, the recommendation is to eat a sweet potato at least once a week. Increasing the amount to 2 a week could prevent your risk of heart attack by 86% and could lower your cholesterol by 29%.  For some, it may allow them to ditch those medications!

SO INDULGE.....

Thank for reading.

Good Eating.
