In The RAW!

What’s up with People who eat Raw Foods?  What’s the scoop on the Raw Food Diet?

If you are a novice to the raw food diet, here are some tidbits of information to help you get acclimated.

Raw means unprocessed or uncooked.

Rawism or the practice of eating uncooked or unprocessed food it the most healthy way of eating simply because the food is in it’s natural state. Cooking vegetables will deplete it of the nutrients that our bodies need the most.

By eating in this manner you are going to be in optimal health. Eating a raw food diet will cause a leaner body, a clearer complexion, more energy and a reduced disease state, and weight loss.  Overall people who practice rawism look different, for they do not experience the normal signs of aging as quickly and you may also notice youthfulness within the eyes.

If you decide that rawism is something that you would like to try then some of the foods that you should expect to eat would be:

Seaweed

Whole Grains

Fresh Fruits

Fresh Vegetables

Beans

Nuts

Sprouts

Smoothies

Although the diet may seem drastic and difficult to follow at first, after the first few days, it is said that the desire for cooked foods, as well as sodium and sugar diminishes considerably.  It is almost as if the consistency of the raw foods, literally scrub the desire for these types of food away.

You may want to try it for just a week or alternate various days throughout the week in which you eat raw. You could also say that your daily diet will start will a certain percentage of raw food, say 50%, then increase it from there, depending on your tolerance.

To kick your raw food diet to up a notch you can add herbs with particular healing properties.  For example, Cilantro is a diuretic and aids in digestion. Garlic is an anti bacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic.  Dill helps with gastro-intestinal issues.  By using healing herbs such as these and others in a raw salad, or as seasonings in other raw food recipes you can keep your body that much healthier and your immune system strong.

Here is an easy recipe you can try out to begin your raw journey.  Your taste buds will be delighted!

Obesity is nothing more than backed-up cooked-food waste trapped in the body.  No amount of raw plant food is fattening, only cooked food is fattening.  Eating raw bankrupts all the complex theories as to why and how people become fat.”
