Quinoa - The Perfect Protein

Ask 85% of people and they will say they cannot get enough protein without eating meat. Well so much for that! Research shows that Quinoa pronounced (Keen-wah) is can be labeled the perfect protein due to the fact that it's properties are absolutely amazing!

With origins from South America, Quinoa has been enjoyed for the past 5000 years by those in Peru, Boliva, Chile and surrounding areas. Quinoa is also known as ancient rice, because it can be used in many recipies in which rice is called for. However, quinoa is actually not a grain as it appears, it is really a plant.

Quinoa is extremely nutritious, because it is low in fat and sodium, high in fiber, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, which helps migraine headaches, as well as more iron and copper than numerous other foods that are part of the grain family.  Let's not forget the fact that it is high in protein. It is called the perfect protein because it contains all 8 amino acids, and to top it all off, it is gluten free! What more could you ask for in terms of nutrition and as a supplement to your diet?

Cooking Quinoa is as simple as boiling rice and it easily picks up flavors and seasonings.  I'm hooked on it because I can mix it with my favorite black beans for a power packed protein meal, or with vegetables as a side dish.

The creator really knew what he was doing with this one, it's great for vegans, people who suffer from heart disease, those who want to lose weigh,t and more.  It's nutty taste can also be appealing to kids.  Believe me, I've already tested it on my 12 year old, and he ate all the quinoa on his plate.

Quinoa is very affordable and can be found at your local health food store. I've even found it at Costco.
Just as rice and pasta is, quinoa will now continue to be a staple in my home.  Won't you try it. You may be hooked too!
